The property on which Highland Park Baptist Church sits today was purchased by First Baptist Church in November 1948 for "Crowder Mission". Dedication and Ground Breaking took place in June of 1953. In March of 1954 the name was changed to "First Avenue Mission". Then in September of 1955 Pastors and Deacons met at "First Avenue Mission" for the purpose of organizing a church. The name was then changed once again to what it remains as today, Highland Park Baptist Church of Lawrenceburg, TN. December 1, 1955 Bro. J.P. Stockman became the first Pastor and continued to lead the Church until February of 1963.

November 1948: The First Baptist Church purchased the property for "Crowder Missions".

June 1953: Dedication and Ground Breaking for "Crowder Missions".

March 1954: The name was changed to "First Avenue Mission".

September 5, 1955: Pastors and Deacons met at "First Avenue Mission" for the purpose of organizing a church. The name was changed to "Highland Park".

September 8, 1955: The church was accepted into full membership in Lawrenc County Association of Baptist.

December 1, 1955: Bro J.P Stockman became the first Pastor.

October 1, 1956: Mr. & Mrs. Langley purchased the parsonage and deeded it to the Church.

January 13, 1957: The first services were held in the new church auditorium.

February 1, 1963: Bro J. Arnold Porter became Pastor.

May 4, 1966: The property just north of the Church was purchased for $60,000.00.

October 19, 1966: The land just south of the church was purchased.

1967: A new parsonage was erected.

April 9, 1968: Bro J. Arnold Porter resigned.

July 9, 1969: Bro W.R. Morgan became Interim Pastor.

January 28, 1970: Bro John L. Bedford became Pastor.

July 25, 1971: Bro John L. Bedford resigned as Pastor.

August 4, 1971: Bro Morton Rose became Interim Pastor.

September 22,1971: Bro James E. Lee was called to Pastor. A jail ministry was started.

November 10,1971: A Brotherhood was organized and the Church voted to establish a Library.

December 1973: A live Radio Ministry was begun with broadcasting of the Sunday evening worship sevice.

June 1, 1979: Bro James Shutt became Pastor of Highland Park.

1983: Bro Glen Buie became Pastor of Highland Park.

1987-1992: Bro Vann Kissell was Pastor.

January 1993: Bro. James Parish became Pastor.

July 15, 2001: Bro. Mike Phelps became Pastor.

October 3, 2004: Bro Mike Phelps resigned as Pastor.

October 10, 2004: Bro Robert McIlwain became Interim Pastor.

2006: There were twelve additions to the church during the year.

June 2008: Bro Ricky Cotton became pastor. There were eight additions to the church.

2009: A Men's Fellowship time began along with a Women's Fellowship time. We started Sunday morning breakfast Fellowship before Sunday school, and a F.A.I.T.H. Riders Chapter (motorcycle ministry)was commissioned. There were 22 additions to the church.
